Having a glass of this while I prepare Rajat Parr’s braised lamb shanks (garlic and Indian spices). This is going to pair perfectly! The florals and spices are so pretty! Smooth, ripe raspberries, black plum, with a great finish.

a wild ride this time around. misty then rose petal then perfumey then meaty. must decant and take your time for the evolution. Really enjoyed but probably better in a few years

Structured and still tannic, rich mountain fruit, still quite youthful fruit, long, somewhat tannic, finish, very fine mountain Syrah, needs additional cellaring.

Feb 4th, 2018Dark violet in the glass with a purple rim. Mesmerizing nose of pepper upfront with delicious herbs and spices come to play. This is not all about the fruit. Perfectly structured with great balance, the tannins are firm and the acid so bright. On the palate, there's all sorts of earthy funk going on. Mushrooms, black olives, slightly burnt coffee, wet gravel, and grilled beef. The fruit does come into play after some air with blackberries, blueberries, and a touch of strawberry. The finish is long and exquisite with a bit of sweetness and menthol. Absolutely varietally correct, this baby still has several years left to blossom.
