Mayacamas Vineyards
Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the truly exceptional wines of the vintage. As I worked through this series of retrospective tastings, I had hoped to find at least one wine like this. A truly epic 2011. When I tasted the Mayacamas Cabernet, I knew I had found it. Deep, potent and massively constituted, the 2011 possesses tremendous richness and pure power, all within the classical framework that is such a Mayacamas signature. Dark fruit, lavender crushed rocks, menthol and sage build as this explosive Cabernet shows off its pedigree. The 2011 is the last vintage Bob Travers made at Mayacamas (although it was blended and bottled by the current team). It is very clearly one of the wines of this challenging and misunderstood vintage, as well as a fitting testament to his legacy. Harvest stretched into late October and early November. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

May 18th, 2022True to its own style since the beginning, this Cab really transcends amongst the greatest in Napa. Needs ample time to flourish into concentrated and integrated red berry and blue berry flavors balanced by subtle acidity with slight hints of cedar, eucalyptus, and cassis finish. Cheers.

Jul 19th, 2023Absolutely horrific wine,
How Gallioni rated this 💯is unbelievable, I thought Parkers 96 points for Caymus 40th was the most ridiculous rating I’ve come across, this takes the 🎂 now.Definitely not renewing my Vinious membership/subscription after this Nothing massive, no explosion of flavor. Just a tremendously bland wine even on day 2 with a 4 hour decant. The only thing that stands out is the bitter almost sour finish.
Definitely the worst 2011 I’ve had besides the DB4 from Bryant.
2011 Greer, Shafer & Morlet are so much better.
