Deep but bright orangey gold. Not much mousse to speak of, though that's likely a product of age (and less-than-desirable state store storage conditions). Likewise the somewhat weak bubbles. Biscuity quince and white stone fruit on the nose and palate. Still a firm backbone of acidity though, and that made it a great pair with "nouveau European" fare (trout almondine, fusilli carbonara). Would love to try it upon release.

2007 - crystalline but seems sweeter than expected. Acid of the vintage shows. Ginger. Red grapefruit. Good bubbles for aperitif IMO

Wish it had a bit more freshness. It's interesting though, just seems a little tired.

Seemed tired - liked the oxidative style with baked apple and marzipan notes - just not as alive as I'd expect

Lush peach, honeysuckle, and lemon peel. Hints of almond and marzipan. Bright lively acidity backed by expressive minerality.

Recommended by a nice fellow customer who was shopping next to me at Astor Wines...delightfully nutty and oxidized style with the words "unique experience" written all over it. A few varietals that aren't found much in modern Champagne help add to its mysterious nature...more research to be done this evening!

Sadly, for me, this wine was a little one-dimensional. On the nose, acetone (glue note) is what struck me first. Behind that I could, after my friends lined them up for me, find some brioche and vegetal notes (spinach dock). But with my over-sensitivity for acetone, this wasn't exactly fun. On the palate, well, acidity and quickly fading bubbles. I'm a lover of many natural wines and was full of excitement when the bottle was opened, but alas, this isn't my bubbly. 50+5+8+11+6=80 (extremely subjective; as I know this is a very special champagne and the bartender who opened it for me loves it.)
