Inferno Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo

Rose petals and a touch of tart dried cherry 🍒🌹 Could go a few more years but I think it’s best now. (6 year mark for the 2013.) One complaint is that it could use more acidity.

Nose isn’t that open right now, but plenty of dried cherry, strawberry, rose on the palate // nice med+ lift of acidity

Entry level Valtellina showing some age w/beautiful amber bricking, ruby see thru - showing elegantly styled rose petals, tart cherry, bit dusty, some tar & soil but overall more lifted & light on its feet. Med bodied (this has no doubt shed some weight) on palate, more tart fruit & secondary flavors, needed more structure & acidity. Close out price of well under $20 was a fantastic deal. Def drink up! PS: bump for 2nd night showing

This is a very nice Nebbiolo. I will definitely have it again! The color is amazing and the taste is spot on for what you would expect from this grape. Price point is good considering many are twice as expensive.

I picked this wine because it described my day perfectly. Inferno = Hell. Long lines in the stores and stupidity of the situation that needed to be taken seriously long time ago. Anyway. Inferno, a subregion of Valtellina is a more beautiful and feminine Nebbiolo. I enjoyed it very much despite its name

Nebbiolo has such beautiful properties but it’s intense and usually needs the defense of a ribeye or something equivalent. If you love quieter wines, and if you love the flavors and aroma of Nebbiolo, Inferno is for you.
It has the salts and minerality of Etna and the musty dusty fruit of Piedmont. It’s cool with dark cherries and roses and old leather. Extremely moderate tannins all considering.

Brick red and full bodied. Delightful. Earthy.

Very good, some smokiness, clay and leather, taste lingers on the palate.

Alternate take on Nebbiolo. Medium plus acid and tannins with tart red cherry, a floral note and black pepper. Yum!

Menu decanted. Light red for true red wine. Muted nose, but sour cherry kool aid is present. Pleasant, dry sour cherry palate. Medium short finish. Nice quaffable starter wine. I wouldn't seek it out, but it's a solid QPR.
