Les Jalets Crozes Hermitage Syrah
Always a sucker for a Crozes Hermitage, especially when in France and the French charcuterie comes out with multiple pork and goose terrines and mousses. The acidic Syrah and touch of white pepper cut on the fat and enhance the méat’s flavors.

Solid #syrah with #gamey touches and that sort of lavender black olive spice with potential for bottle aging. Very pleasant. #rhone #hermitage #crozeshermitage

Crozes-Hermitage can never compete with Hermitage or Cote Rotie wines but there is still much joy to be had in these bottles, especially from such a terrific producer. This is a strong Syrah offering that’s perfect for anytime. Made for immediate consumption, it’s fresh and lively upon opening but really evolves nicely over time. Medium bodied with some outstanding acidity. Cigar box, blue and red fruits, and earth on the palate. Fun stuff with depth and a nice value to boot.

Better at this point than the 2016 Jaboulet Saint Joseph I drank this with. Also better on day 2. Brambly fruit and violets but missing any kind of olive/meaty notes.
