Oh...my...Lord. This, was absolutely amazing.

The nose is almost the best part.. we'll say 60/40. The nose is full of gamey grill notes, graphite, mint/basil combo, (even provancal herbs), pomegranate juice, sandalwood, and cocoa powder. 14.5 % alcohol, so the wine has deep concentration, and exhibits noted of stewed black cherries, gravel dust, ripe red plum, rib meat, pepper spices, and a gorgeous smooth finish that makes you cry when the bottle is empty. I need more of this kind of red in my life. Wow.

Got an amazing deal at a wine bar for $40 off, from $120 a bottle, and my Sunday is made.

Cheers!

Sweet blackberry liqueur like fruit black licorice spice sweet tobacco espresso and more coming put as the wine opens very concentrated and rich bouquet of aromas ver rich and decadent on the tongue with excellent structure for an approachable and somewhat drinkable style very ripe but has a nice freshness and a good hand of spice through the finish. Finish 50+ most excellent

Really good Shiraz that is starting to age well. Plenty of heavy blackcurrant, diesel and menthol with a finish that is long and complex. This will get smoother over time but it drinks well now. Only complaint is that there was a lot of sediment, meaning the last eighth of the bottle was lost (unfortunately no decanter available). Great Penfolds example without the huge Grange pricing.
