Penfolds
RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz
Winner of Penfolds Tasting at NCWC. Beautiful powerful Syrah, but at eight years it has mellowed wonderfully. Balanced and elegant, this wine can probably go for another ten years. (97 Pts from Wine Enthusiast).

Nov 3rd, 2018Celebrating New Year's Eve with a gorgeous Shiraz from Australia. Happy New Year all!
Dark inky in color with a dark purple rim.
Strong Napa nose, fruity with lots of vanilla and blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, raisins, oak, licorice, spices, chocolates, smoke, peppermint, light vegetables, cinnamon and peppercorn.
Full bodied, rich and smooth, with medium acidity and awesome looking legs.
Extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, vanilla, licorice, light cloves, earth, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins, cherries and strong black pepper.
What a great 6 year old this is, with a great mouthfeel, smooth and elegant.
Good right out of the bottle, but much better after a couple of hours in a decanter.
Very heavy on the vanilla for my taste. Reminds me of the 2012 Caymus Cabernet. Would be so much better in 3 years.
I enjoyed it all by itself, but a nice juicy steak would go very well with it too.
Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Amazing Shiraz. We tasted side by side with Grange 2010. By far it only mine but many preferred RWT over G. Great finesse and fruit integration with oak. Loved it.

Aug 12th, 2015Strawberries, cherry cola, limestone and a hint of vanilla on the nose. A thick silky mouth feel that dries quickly with jammy cherry and blackberry notes. Well balanced and a long finish. As it opens up the nose starts to give off notes of caramel corn and oak.

Jul 26th, 2020Cherries, strawberries and spearmint dominate the nose. Dark fruit with a hint of tobacco when you drink it. This is super well balanced and a phenomenal bottle. 2010 vintage.
