Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days and showed very well throughout. The 2012 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core and some browning towards the rim; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with secondary characteristics just starting to show themselves. Also, the solar nature of 2012 is showing through with loads of truffles and overripe and desiccated red and black fruits: tartufo bianco d’Alba, dried cherry, bruised raspberries, red roses, leather, Fig Newtons, dried herbs, and some dusty and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, drying and savory. I’ve been a vocal fan of the 2012 vintage of Produttori since release and this might be the best showing yet. This is my last 750mL. My remaining bottles are magnums and I’ll look forward to enjoying those over the next 10-15 years. No rush, but this is a fun time to drink these as the truffle character is starting to peak through.

The nose reveals; sweet & sour dark cherries, deeply, ripe & juicy strawberries, rhubarb & cranberry crossing, plum liqueur, blackberries, blueberries, candied raspberries, dark chocolate, limestone minerals, sandstone, anise to black licorice, dry, crushed rocks with blue, red, dark, fresh & withering florals with fields of violets.

The body is still firm, thick, grainy and full. The structure, tension are still tight. The length and balance are working their way into adolescence. Sweet & sour dark cherries, deeply, ripe & juicy strawberries, black raspberries, juicy, black plum, rhubarb & cranberry crossing, plum liqueur, blackberries, blueberries, candied raspberries, caramel, clove, touch of nutmeg, vanilla, dark chocolate, semi-sweet tarriness, understated herbaceousiness, limestone minerals, powdery sandstone leather, dry tobacco, saddle-wood to cedar plank, dark spice, sandstone, anise to black licorice, dry, crushed rocks with blue, red, dark, fresh & withering florals with fields of violets.

It’s still a youthful wine with another 10-15 years ahead.

So classic, well made and great QPR. Tasted blinded and called it Produttori right away.

Like 2006, no Riserva/Cru bottlings will be released for 2012. This is powerful & tannic, yet approachable & generous with herb accented dark red fruit. As always, the Barbaresco standard bearer.

This afternoon a close friend and I enjoyed reminiscing and enjoying wine together. It was a wonderful afternoon and wonderful wine.

Our first wine was the 2012 Produttori del Barbaresco which we throughly enjoyed.

On the nose were notes of cherry, red raspberry, anise, cranberry, herbaceous notes and a bit of leather.

On the palate was very pronounced tart black cherries, red raspberry, clove, licorice and clay soil.

There is medium + acidity and gripping + tannins that leads to a pleasingly long finish.

This was a enjoyable wine that is drinking well now but can be cellared for another 5-10 years easily.

Continue to enjoy the weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Consistently excellent, dried cherries, rose petals, tobacco. Sustains nicely. The 2012 was made in a year without Reservas so it benefitted from all the best fruit. A cracker.
