Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2014 Classico pours a slightly hazy garnet with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing. Initially showing notes of stewed red fruits, however with about 30 minutes of air, the fruits freshened up. Morello Cherry, macerated strawberry, dried roses, tar, leather, gravelly earth, and a pleasant mix of cool spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium plus; grippy and savory. An often maligned vintage in Piemonte, particularly in Barolo (though some outstanding examples exist). However, in Barbaresco, there was more success and this is an example. Drink now through 2034.

A great match with homemade Pasta last night (Friday). Aromas of red berry, dark cherry, menthol and balsamic notes. As you would expect finishes with powdery tannins to the medium weight palate. Muted acid. I must admit I find it inconsistent the way experts write off the 2014 Barolos yet Galloni describes this 2014 Produttori Barbaresco as “fabulous “. I found it straight forward and enjoyable of no great complexity and not likely to change greatly with further cellaring. Opened another bottle 11 weeks later on 14th December with consistent notes. Very savoury rather than fruit driven. Very dry powdery tannins. Tried this again 11 weeks later on 14th December 2021 with consistent notes. Fine very dry tannins.

Delicious... the 2014 has all the sour cherry almond flavor one could want. Not the best vintage? Still tasty.

So young, tight, and promising. (Get your mind out of the gutter.) Bright and intense cherry fruit, minerally gravelly nose. Long, tense finish. Needs several years, but getting more enjoyable as the dinner goes on.

When I heard this was a ‘14 Nebbiolo I hesitated as most I’ve had have been hard as nails but this was very drinkable now. Tobacco, leather and red fruit on the nose. The palate shows bright cherries, a touch sour, but very delicious. The tannins are there but not nearly as strong as I anticipated. Very nice.

Cherries, tar, scorched earth...wow. Gains power in the glass. I fawn over Produttori.

A unique and exceptional vintage for this wine, the ‘14 shows none of the bright fruit tones so common to this bottling. Rather, it is deep and savory showing beef broth, tar and herb notes. Rich, with satisfying tannin and acid structure.
