Valpolicella Superiore Corvina Blend

Not usually a fan of Amarone but this one was quite balanced. 2005

Powerhouse.

After a week of tasting this wine 08-10, this 05 still a pup with so much density, complexity and potential brambly fruit, sweet spice & tight tannin profile still so prominent.

Big and burly, but lovely.

Still needs time

Baller. Always a favorite. The 2008 is still a bit tight but still has terrific structure. Fruit, acidity, and a bit of tannin blend together nicely.

Birthday wine #2: In years Dal Forno does not make their world renown Amarone, such as 2005, their best grapes go into this Valpolicella and Wow, it doesn't disappoint. Very unique and floral notes of olive, oak, cream, pepper and pine. It is still lively in the mouth but smooth as all the flavors meld together and give way to a nice finish without that big bite. Very glad I have more of these, it is simply a fantastic wine.

Beautifully crafted with lush, plump dark fruit, intense aromas of leather & dates and very well defined tannin. So much still in reserve. It deserves another shot in 5 years. Perfect accompaniment to roasted venison & peppered pineapple.

Actually 2003 vintage. Perfection.
