Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione Chianti Classico Sangiovese

Nice. But not going out of my way to find this wine again - not a great value. Revisiting a year later - 1/20/19 - I find the wine better integrated and am starting to enjoy it. Upped the rating to 89 but feel it will probably go higher with more age.

Black cherry and cinnamon tobacco on the nose. Herbal, tobacco and red fruit with a hint of chocolate on the palate. A very consistent chianti.

Italian wine varietal night #2 after the Dolcetto: Aromas of violet, plum, and cherry with hint of somewhat unripe dark berries, smoke and tobacco flavors.

Chilled this a lot, and downed it. So good

Liked first bottle earlier this year but the 2012 I just had another bottle Oct 2019 and I threw it out.

Raisins leather and spice

Pan seared elk loin, new potatoes friend in butter, and another Chianti reduced down with some maitake mushrooms for a sauce.

Good...not great. Starts strong. Nice finish.

Such a smooth bottle of wine! Just how I remember tasting it in Italy!
