Bonus wines. My first time having this from Shafer, and it’s very down the middle. Epitomizes Cali chard. It’s not overly oaked, but certainly kissed by some. A crowd pleaser. Little bit of marzipan, lemon bar pastries and honey butter.

Big Chardonnay with plenty of toast. Loaded with tropical fruits, white flowers and caramel. Rounded, creamy texture that verges on oily. Excellent extraction, very aromatic and ripe. Not as lean as I expected. California Chardonnay lovers are in luck. I’m looking for more acidity, but this is always of a high quality.

Bright vibrant yellow/gold color. The nose is fresh with pear and yellow apple, soft notes of toast. What’s really impressive is the texture. Rich and opulent but so well balanced with a satisfying amount of acidity to counter the riches. The finish is long and supple. Email me to find out the great pricing that I have for this CA icon. Much better than I was expecting...clearly some high toast oak in there, which lent this an almost charry character, but some ripe sweet lemon and citrus behind. Ok acidity, i.e., not nearly as soupy as expected.

Big, round California chard. Tropical fruit, vanilla, toasted oak, butter. Enough acidity to balance the opulence. A good cocktail wine.
