Popped and poured but frankly, this ought to have been decanted...or better yet, opened 5 years from now. Deep dark garnet color. Initially a bit reticent on the nose eventually giving way to a hefty amount of delicious dark cherries...that's really about it at the moment. There's a lot more lurking beneath the surface but it's unwilling to bare all at this stage in its life. Ample structure with moderate tannin and acid. A very long and satisfying finish. This should be a really fun wine to follow over the next couple of decades. Now I have the daunting task to try and find more.

Firing on all cylinders… dried cherry, plum, cassis, tobacco, cedar box, mint, clove, nutmeg, mushroom. Nose is complex, with layers of aromas. Balances fruit with secondary earthy flavors. Oak is well integrated. Structure shows with balance, but is aging gracefully. Plenty of length with big tart blackcherry and plum to finish. Chalky and dry. Really well done. Drink now with a quick decant.
