This was an excellent wine that really surprised to the upside. It has a nice balance of the dryness and earth I usually think of for Chianti’s but with more fruit. It tastes of dried strawberries and blackberries. We decanted it, but not for very long. It was outstanding with the Christmas prime rib. I think this wine is a steal and I would pick up some more while it’s available. Thanks to my brother Mike for bringing it and to his wine store sommelier’s excellent advice.

Barnyard funk, licorice, and black tea on the nose. On the palate you get cranberry sauce, black tea, licorice, oak, raisin, almond, vanilla, and spice. Moderate plus tannin and moderate plus acid with a long, tart finish.
