This is everything you would expect from a California Zinfandel. I am still honing my blind tasting skills but this one is such a classic I feel I could identify this quite readily in a blind tasting.

First night was kind of meh. High octane and kind of generic primary flavors but started to open up in glass after about 30 minutes. On day two, it was markedly improved with much more secondary character albeit more barrel flavors also. Smoke, spice, vanilla on top of briar and brambles. Overall it is very good after allowing to unwind a bit.

2014, but drinkable now. Wonderful fruit with slight earthy finish. Love it!
