Took a chance on this unusual red from Loire: unique varietal composition & bottle format, but delicious nonetheless! Fairly dark inky richly extracted w/concentrated aromas of red fruit literally up & down the spectrum: tart cherry, cranberry, ripe bing cherry (and sour cherry), some raspberry couli all mingled with white pepper, clay & subtle vein of minerality. I found it very complex & engaging if a bit disjointed when looking at interplay of acidity & tannins... — 5 years ago
Nice affordable New World Bordeaux. Aroma of raspberries, plums and sour cherries with nice tannin bite. — 6 years ago
Loads of raspberries, nice rich/light purple, great jam and sour acid, mild tannins, good minerals and chalky clays, very drinkable — 6 years ago
I’ve kept this in our collection just chilling for 6 years. And ya know what…it was worth the wait. This isn’t anything special really but the time has brought out those “aged Riesling” qualities that I was hoping for. For $19 at bqe…it’s a good deal if you have the space to stash a bottle properly for more than just a few years. Nose: stretch Armstrong, GI Joe right out of the box, the McDonalds happy meal toy right after you rip open the plastic wrap. But also some sweet ripe citrus. Body/structure/palette: medium body, ripe peachy stone fruit boldness, that petrol is fuckin there but it’s not overwhelming. There’s some peach dum dums happening. Lingering mouth feel. Finish is pretty long with a hint of sour bitterness and candied yellow fruits. I need to do this with more Alsace Riesling and let it sit for 6+ years!! — 3 days ago
I’d been jonesing to try the Martha Stoumen collection for a long time. I’ve read plenty on her background - her training under Occhipinti at Cos and I love her thoughtful articulation of California terroir, natural wine, and Sicilian grapes.
This is fun bright sunshine at a meager 10%. The smell of oysters mid slurp - briny ocean and minerals. Flavors of sour lemon drop.
Attentive and still easy. — 5 years ago
Medium ruby in color; black cherries, black pepper, and woodsmoke on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like sour cherries, blackberry jam, and wet gravel with a long finish. I love it. After some time in the glass, I'm getting vanilla and plum aromas. I love it even more now. — a year ago
