Built in the 17th century, Château overlooks vineyards of Mercurey in Côte Chalonnaise. In 1934, Marquis de Jouennes, father-in-law of Bertrand Devillard and grand-father of Amaury and Aurore (present owners), produced his first bottle of red Mercurey. Soft red fruit nose with rustic spices. Cherry and raspberry, sweet herb spice, good balance. Smooth tannins, lingering ending with earthy mineral tones. — 8 years ago

This one of my favorite Champagnes at this time. I hope @Gary Westby keeps bringing this in at K&L — 9 years ago
Finished the night w/ a glass of the Cuvée 1809. My friend received it in her Somm Selection Club from K&L Wine Merchants.
Normally, I am a little skeptical of having others select my bottles, but this lived up to the bill.
It is a very nice & well made bottle. Good balance, nice mousse and an well polished finish. — a year ago
Fresh, fruity. White flower. Citrus. A.D. Coutelas Origin Brut Champagne Blend @, Jess2, 230702 — 3 years ago
A pleasant surprise, albeit showing a hint of maturity on the palate.
Nose displays strawberries with a wisp of mushrooms. Palate is bold and vigorous. This all about energy power. Overall, excellent. I just caught this in its old man phase. Certainly, a producer to watch.
Mo wasn’t feeling it, but I have assumed editorial liberties (and it came from our cellar). — 6 years ago
Don't know what to do with this. pale yellow/pinkish color, oxidated, mineral, chalky. Grapefruit, lime fruit. Fresh, but also sweet... Is this meant to be this way or just simply flawed? — 8 years ago
If Himmler has chosen viticulture over genocide perhaps this blanc de blanc champagne from cote de blancs would be the result. Aggressively pure and clean, lighter than the French attitude to adultery and elegantly frothed. Would be excellent with San choy bow — 8 years ago

Wow - this threw me off on initial taste - my novice palate assumed this had seen oak - but with a little more space and time with a fresh bottle suggested something with a little more brightness and citrus on the nose balanced with richness that never approached flabby. Day 2 gave me something like a Mosel Riesling Spätlese nose of citrus rind and oil matched on the palate by some viscosity. I almost sensed some Chenin Blanc beeswaxy essence and texture with honeyed floral notes. Mineral backbone, enough acid to carry its ripeness, and perhaps my only wish was a little more bubble to give some lift. I love acid but this was a joy to taste through! — 3 months ago
