Soil Specific Sauvignon Blanc 2021

9.5

Fruity, floral and peachy. The winemaker performed some major acrobatics with this. See my prior notes. — 23 days ago

Right Bank RED BLEND 2021

2021 vintage. Killer resto deal. 44% Merlot 27% Malbec 10% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Petit Verdot 9% Cabernet Franc. Medium body and super-refined. Pretty but still packing punch. Touted as Alexander Valley juice but labeled as Sonoma County. Regardless, this is banging. Sumptuous. — 8 months ago

Soil Specific Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

On opening- very deep purple color, lush full bodied . Well balanced. Strong tannins but not overpowering. Some fruit but not a caymus fruit bomb. Excellent. Did not disappoint. Opened up nicely. — a year ago

Sauvignon Blanc 2022

This is a stunning Sav. Blanc. Probably the best I have ever had. I don’t normally think of creaminess with a Sav. Blanc, but it’s there on the nose. Still has nice pineapple and lemon curd on the nose. Palate has great, mouthwatering acidity and a lengthy finish for a Sav. Blanc. Compared blind with Modus Operandi Sav. Blanc, which is my go to, and this one beats it out. @Ron R If you can find this, I think you would dig it. Bought at a visit to the winery. This one is distinct. Not the regular Sav. Blanc, but the Farrow Ranch. Supposedly, the winemaker said it was the best white wine he’s ever made. — 2 months ago

@Mark Farrell, thanks for the heads-up. I will certainly seek this out, but have a feeling you can only get this direct from them. These guys really upset me when they wrote to me saying “we are sad to see you go.” The bye-bye was initiated by them.

@Mark Farrell, Does this wine have a name as I don’t recognize the label? Thanks.

@Ron R It sounds like there is a story there with Aperture. I have only recently discovered them by @Mike R ‘s recommendation on our recent trip to CA. The wine here is the 2022 Aperture Sauvignon Blanc Farrow Ranch. You are probably right that you’d only be able to get it direct.

Deep amethyst in color. Complex wine that ends smooth. Starts with notes of blackberry and oak. — 8 months ago

Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2022

Just lovely balance, residual sweetness and bouquet. There are more complex Chenins, but few this well put together. — 3 months ago

Alexander Valley Red Blend 2021

Another great Aperture discovery. This blend is delicious. Similar to the cab, but more rounded of course. Could use a bit more structure. — 6 months ago
