Molino Del Piano

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

Beautiful nose of baking spices and unknown herbs. Also vanilla and cherry. And bam! OMG is this gorgeous. Very fully flavored and luscious with more baking spices and cherry. Higher alcohol of 14.5%, which seems to dominate the wine. Love this! Decanted for 45 minutes. — 2 years ago

Carter Cellars

LA BAM Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

A wonderful wine that we enjoyed with our Christmas dinner that included some beef tenderloin. Not sure how they do it but Carter keeps cranking out wonderful cabs. — 3 years ago

Domaine Michel Niellon

Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1986

Tasted blind. Straw gold color. Looks young but the complex nose says it isn’t. Notes of citrus, apricot, gravel, some mint. Has that dirty nose that I connect Niellon to. Stunning power, structure and acidity in the mouth. I’m told this was open for 6 hrs already. Some conversation leads to Batard as the vineyard. Someone guesses Ramonet but I go with 86 Niellon Batard. Bam. An all time fav white for me, this was one of the best showings for it. — 5 years ago

Piancornello

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

Pungent fruity notes with loads of spiciness. Such an incredible nose! Beautiful melange of cherry, raspberry and baking spices. And bam. Fully flavored with loads of fruit, silky smooth, and light and easy finish. Incredibly well balanced and refined. My only complaint, although a small one, is the higher alcohol content is noticable and almost takes away from the elegance of the wine. If the AC were lowered a bit I'd have to say it was a nearly perfect wine. All that said, I have always loved brunellos and this is an amazing example. Definitely recommend! — a year ago
