If you expect a powerful red with black fruit, lots of round tannins, structure and length, you will not be disappointed. Blackberries, plums, liquorice, smart oak, body. Bodegas Maurodos Cartago 2012 D.O. Toro, paired with a serious veal chop, roasted piquillos, thick-cut chef-grown potato chips, and tomatoes at Chibo. Brand new wine for the winery coming from a single plot of old vines and named for a landmark curve of the Duero river. 90% Tinta de Toro and 10% Touriga Naçional, aged 3 years in 100% new French oak and 1 year in the bottle.
