If you expect a powerful red with black fruit, lots of round tannins, structure and length, you will not be disappointed. Blackberries, plums, liquorice, smart oak, body. A hot vintage I guess, a bit too much for me at this stage, even though there is freshness. I recognize the quality regardless — 2 years ago

Bodegas Maurodos Cartago 2012 D.O. Toro, paired with a serious veal chop, roasted piquillos, thick-cut chef-grown potato chips, and tomatoes at Chibo. Brand new wine for the winery coming from a single plot of old vines and named for a landmark curve of the Duero river. 90% Tinta de Toro and 10% Touriga Naçional, aged 3 years in 100% new French oak and 1 year in the bottle.
