Apple lemonade, with nice toast and minerality. Laser focused, creamy, and generous. Good value for Champagne. — 4 years ago
One of the best value champagne — 20 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2008 Special Club pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing and somewhat shy but there’s citrus, white peach, brioche and a rather fascinating smell that reminded me of a built-up roof. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however here, it’s much richer and expansive. The finish is long. Young? Probably. Drink now through 2038. 2016 Left Bank kicks ass at all price points. This is a bargain bottle that I feel deserves more love than the 8.5 average rating on this app. I give it an unapologetic 9. I popped and poured a glass (saving the rest for some mostaccioli later tonight), and it is behaving like a high-quality Medoc. A little tight but juicy, with pleasant fruit, slate, apple skins, and vibrant acidity. Appropriately tannic and a lovely finish. At $16, I would easily recommend this to a newbie or a seasoned veteran. It can handle 5 more years.

Sofia loved Penguins. We played w/ them in Dubai and she also skied indoor while I had a spot of Champagne and watched from a very big window. Only in Dubai. They have to build things of that nature…cus w/o them…just a bunch of sand. — a year ago

A little pre-thanksgiving bubbles. Hope you all have a great day of football & turkey dinner with family/friends! 🏈 🦃 🥧 🍽️ 🍁
It has been a yr and half of more since I’ve had the Launois Veuve Clemence. Still enjoy this quite a bit but I sense the 8g’s dosage more now versus the 2-6g’s dosage that I have gravitated.
It shows orange citrus blend, lime pulp, lemon zest to chiffon, grapefruit with pith, Bosc pear, red apple, pineapple, tropical melons, kiwi, white spice, gritty chalk, crispy volcanics, dry river stone, saline, sea fossils, limestone marl, notes of frothed whole milk, graham cracker crust, yellow & white flowers, jasmine mixed in greens, lively, crisp acidity, very well balanced, complex, good tension/structure and elegant finish that lasts minutes and long sets on spice and minerals.
100% Blanc de Blanc, Grand Cru vineyards in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and spent almost five years on lees, founded in 1872 and has passed through 8 generations.
If you go to Champagne, try & get an appointment. They have a huge historical champagne museum that is amazing.
