Fattoria la Ripa

Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The 2019 pours, a pale garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of raspberry, tart cherry, strawberry, star anise, red flowers, pine nuts, dry earth, old wood, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a lovely Chianti Classico that may not be fancy, but it is certainly honest. Enjoy now through 2034. — 7 days ago

Nearly 8 years old and the acidity is still off the charts. Love it. Little smoky note on the nose and rocky notes at the end—so volcano. Lots of cherry with a bit of raspberry zip in the middle. Moderate-minus tannins. Wish it lingered longer. — a month ago

Tres Picos Campo de Borja Garnacha

Deep purple without any brick. Tarry black fruit jam on the nose. Bright grape and jam on the palate. A heavy rendering of Grenache with tons of alcohol. Drink right away with grilled meats. — 3 months ago

Berola Campo de Borja Garnacha Blend 2016

A quality budget friendly wine that showed some nice age, I've had more recent vintages and this one still held up well and showed some nice maturity — 4 months ago

Zarihs Campo de Borja Syrah 2018

ESF
9.1

Interesting rendition of Syrah from Spain: blind I would say Monastrell - really dark & inky, wafty nose of dark fruit, deeply ripe, smoky, gnarly, as it gained air it threw some cocoa & spices, coffee, musty attic, old books, pepper. Rich broad across palate, touch hot - ripe verging on baked black fruit compote, baking spices. Decent length on finish. — 6 months ago
