C. Grass

Heitz Cellar

Lot C-91 Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Dark ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, black currants/cherries, purple flowers and menthol. Same dark fruits on the palate with additional notes of black olives, tobacco, roasted herbs and black pepper. Meaty texture and a beautiful long and earthy finish. Medium-plus body and rustic/chewy tannins. Complex, concentrated and rich. Excellent! Thanks for sharing James W. — 25 days ago

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

This white wine has prominent notes of apple and pear on the nose, with hints of green apple and lemon grass to the taste. This white wine is not very acidic, and I enjoy that it is not too dry. — 3 months ago

Vilafonté

Series C Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Firm grip not letting go until after a long lingering finish. Just when you thought you had wrestled yourself free you made the mistake of subconsciously taking that next sip and the struggle started all over again with that vibrant, concentrated dark extract of dark black berry and currants soaked in fine grained tannins and earth…ancient earth that is. Still very young as the layers unfold slowly and shyly but so promising. Check our YouTube video to

93 that leans into 94 and will see another point or two with 10 years in bottle.

Sofia and I used to go to their futures luncheon for many years. This vineyard consistently yields fruit that makes one of their best Cabernet’s.

It’s lush as it enters and falls onto dry, meaty tannins. Blackberries, creamy black raspberries, black plum with skin, dark cherries & purple fruits. Dry crushed rocks, dry top soil, limestone & volcanic minerals, moist clay, dry tobacco, new, raw leather, still very woody, mixed mid & dark berry cola, plenty of baking spices-clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanilla, dark spices with some heat, some dry herbs, dark melted, chocolate, cocoa powder, caramel notes, bright, fresh & candied florals that are dark, red, blue and framed in violets & lavender, ver nice round acidity with a highly structured, tensioned, well balanced and polished finish that lasts 90 seconds but still lands squarely on wood.

Oyster Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Classic NZ label. Smells funky. Lawn just cut or a piece of fresh grass in the teeth. And lemon citrus peels. Flavors are complex and very audacious. Bombastic even. Plenty of citrus, but something else as well. Shells? Like the calcium carbonate in those. Also big gooseberries. This is a good example of how NZ Sauv Blanc differs from the other styles out there. This wine packs a punch. — 2 months ago
