Sparkling Erbaluce in Alba from benchmark producer. Learned that outside of Canavese, the name Erbaluce cannot be used. It seems that sometimes the Italians - and Alto Piedmontese (a name we in the US bestowed on a them) let their hyper local regional alliances and squabbles - undermine their global marketability. Medium ruby in color; blackberries, strawberries, tabacco on the nose; medium plus acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like blueberries, strawberry jam, white pepper, and crushed gravel with a long finish. — a month ago
Superb wine drinking following making authentic pesto the old way. — 2 years ago
Falanghina is as flexible as it gets, pears, apricots, jasmine. Acidity to carry the bubbles. Light and structured. — 2 years ago
Like this one a lot. A very bright, fresh, mineral, sappy Barbera, not quite like any other I’ve had. Crunchy red fruit, roasted sweet cherry tomato, a touch of menthol on the noise. A soft herbal quality, medium plus acids and good structure. Tannins are firm but never astringent and soften nicely with about an hour of air. Would decant next time. — 4 years ago
Nicely aged Nebbiolo. Nose a combination of lifted fresh and dried roses, strawberry, hint of caramel, earthy mushroom compost. Slightly dusty. On the palate a nice, silky texture without rough tannic edges and a good dose of acidity. Strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry. Decent length. A nice pairing with homemade carbonara. — 2 months ago
Bonisimo! Blackberries, licorice, tobacco, and spice. Smoothest Cannonau we have ever had. — 3 years ago

Funky, spicy, but with plenty of bright cherry to balance. Loud and proud, not particularly balanced but it’s working for this wine. Great with pizza. — 18 days ago
