Montevertine

Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2020

Deep Ruby with aromas of fresh berry fruits, floral and slight spicy notes. Blend of 90% Sangiovese with the rest Canaiolo and Colorino, aged 24 months in oak. Fruit comes primarily from a 2.5 hectare parcel of vines planted in 1982 on a south – southeast facing slope. On the palate cherry and black raspberry flavors, adding lovely floral notes, well balanced with acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long ending with slight earthy smoky minerality. Very Nice!! — 5 months ago

La Scolca

White Label Bianco Secco Gavi Cortese 2018

Gavi comes from small growing area in northwestern Italy located north of Genoa on steep slopes of Ligurian Apennines. White label is La Scolca’s everyday wine, an alternative to their “Black Label”. From Cortese di Gavi grape (younger vines), pale yellow with delicate aromas of stone & citrus fruits. Palate, with extended lees aging shows rich apple & lemon flavors, nutty notes, good mouthfeel. Crisper than ‘17, medium finish, vivid acidity ending with a mineral character. Nice! — 3 years ago

Château La Conseillante

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1981

Not a renowned vintage but this was lovely. Smooth and supple, dark fruit, pine, leather, tobacco, bell pepper, earth. The cab franc definitely comes through. — 3 years ago

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1995

Slightly deeper ruby garnet , narrower rim . Deeper and younger , touch of wood smoke then quite ripe black fruits , rounder with better definition on the nose than the 1994 . More degraded cassis and grafite noticeable than the wine before, tobacco , touch of seashell , marine influence comes though . On the palate the fruit fills out better than the 1994, quite dark and serious , grafite , tobacco and cedar , however the tannin is less rustic and better integrated . Nice balancing acidity. This has quite good length and is showing well now though could age a little longer. Probably is best drunk over the next few years — a year ago

Pattes Loup (Thomas Pico)

Vent d'Ange Chablis Chardonnay 2018

Was good, but not what I was looking for when it comes to Chablis. Full bodied, and a little too round. That being said, still a solid wine. — 3 years ago

Massican

Gemina California Pinot Bianco - Greco Blend 2020

‘Dirty lemonade’ always comes to mind. Over ripe lemons, musty earth, herbal garden, subtle citrus finish. Layers. — 3 years ago

Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2011

A friend brought this wine to me, what a gift! A new favorite when it comes to red wine. The vibrant color was astonishing, and the red fruit notes were pleasant. Very rich & dry, yet smooth & balanced at the same time — 7 months ago

Scharffenberger

Brut Rose Excellence Rosé Blend

This wine pours up with a nice, white froth on top of the salmon pink juice. The nose comes forth with a healthy whiff of cherries. On the palate, the red berries come up alongside the nice yeasty bread flavor. It's a fizzy drink with a great acidity and a lovely finish. — 2 years ago

Tenuta San Guido

Bolgheri Sassicaia Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc 2017

Read the reviews on the 2017 and was intrigued. Opened in the morning and sampled throughout day while raking leaves. Finished at dinner. The wine is precise, balanced and interesting. The tannins dominate and are refined, supple and then linger. The fruit is primarily plum with cherry. Tobacco comes a bit later. No clues how this will evolve but. note to self, wait till 2024 or later to rake the leaves again. — 3 years ago
