Cup De La Muntanya

Orin Swift

Papillon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

9.4

Yeah, from a plastic cup. This is absolutely singing and showing zero signs of aging. Textured, layered and tannic. Nice espresso notes give way to black cherries and pure cassis. From magnum. — 10 days ago

Pinot Grigio 2021

Complex aroma on opening. The taste was less strong when I had my second cup the following day. It was quite different in terms of richness of layering than my first bottle of Pinot gris. Love it and recommend! — 2 years ago

Stieglbrauerei

Stiegl Goldbrau Lager 2021

9.0

A smooth and enjoyable Austrian lager from the Stiegl brewery. Nice golden colour with subtle malt and hops with gentle carbonation.

Perfect for watching the English football FA Cup on a wet and windy Sunday.

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

8.9

I can’t remember the last time I tasted this brand, and while it’s very approachable, it’s a total construction site. Vanilla and over-sweet brown sugar with resolved tannins. Not my cup-of-tea, but will be enjoyed by others. — 3 months ago

@Jay Kline, I have older vintages of Napa and Alexander Valley, and they are nothing like what I tasted here. Just so you know, the 94 Silver Oak Napa cab was the wine that actually helped to create my current, measly credit score… Silver Oak has certainly sh!t the bed (in my opinion) since the late 90’s.

@Ron R I agree. I’ve had some vintages from the early 80’s that were really good but man…the oak has been overbearing for probably 20 years

Domaine de l'Horizon

Mar i Muntanya Syrah Grenache Noir 2019

Roussillon trip #2
Grenache/syrah blend, biodynamic. Gourmet cuvée, medium body, juicy, on the purity of the fruit.. the two grape varieties are well respected and recognizable. A little refreshed, it's a lot of fun.

Assemblage grenache syrah, biodynamique. Cuvée gourmande, corps moyen, juteuse, sur la pureté du fruit.. les deux cépages sont bien respectés et reconnaissable. Un peu rafraîchi, c’est beaucoup de plaisir, c’est gouleyant à souhait.

Boekenhoutskloof

The Chocolate Block Cinsault Blend 2019

Light & fruity with some dark plum, anise & violet, a touch of roast. Fresh.
On the palate this is surprisingly light, juicy & lively. The cinsault really comes into play. Fruity, funky, with light tannins & juicy acidity. Fresh, crunchy fruit, a touch of bubblegum character, a herby note towards the finish.
So drinkable, and a lovely wine. Though might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Broc Cellars

Michael Mara Vineyard Chardonnay 2023

Great CA Chardonnay. Balanced, not overly oaked, not really buttery. Fresh and delicious lemon, yellow apple, underripe pear. It doesn’t have the electric acidity of the Adank Swiss Chardonnay I just tried, but it’s delicious in its own softer, more subtle way. Speaking of Swiss, I’m using a cup for tonight’s cheese fondue on a snowy night. — 6 months ago

Domaine de la Charbonnière

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Bought while staying in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the 2016 Cuvée Vieilles Vignes from Domaine de la Charbonniere, a wine based largely on very old Grenache, is a powerhouse wine from this region that demands serious patience. Almost undrinkable on the first night, it performed better on the second having had plenty of air - but still, it’s a colossus of a wine that will doubtless have many fans. I have to admit, not really my cup of tea! — 3 years ago

Es un vino acaramelado. Destaca la madera y la fruta madura. Un vino muy correcto en su precio. Unos 16€ en la bodega. — 4 years ago
