I decided to revisit a bottle that was the winner of our horizontal tasting of MSD 2016 village (10 producers tasted blind by 10 participants). And once again this is a hit for a village. My final btl of a half case, and the best btl. On the nose: hoisin, game, black cherry, a hint of char, spice and perfume. On the palate: excellent acidity, black cherry and wild strawberry..very hi-toned, supple and weightless on the palate. On the finish: attenuated tannin, some cocoa and strawberry, and a touch of white pepper. Drank alongside a '14 Charlopin Marsannay Echezots, and I think this was unquestionably the better wine. — 6 years ago

Still a very robust wine. Not in the least past its prime. There’s a lot of fruit left, but there’s also a lot of oak., even after 26 years. This has dried out the wine a little bit. Don’t make too much out of my criticism. The wine is very enjoyable, so the bottle was finished without any complaints from my friends at the table.

Started out very farmy and rustic. After an hour had beautiful cherry, raspberry, medium tannins, could taste and smell the whole cluster as there was slight tomato and green herbaceous notes. — 7 years ago

Dark fruited built on an acidic framework with firm but fine tannins. Interesting reductive ( in a good way) for a house that is reputed to use little sulfur.
