Laura Aschero

Riviera Ligure di Ponente Vermentino 2023

Still drinking through Italy. This week's stop: Ligurian coast. A bit funky, a bit racy, a bit fruity. Whille cold, aromas of wild fennel, herbs, pine forests, sea brine, and olive groves--basically everything you find in the DOC. As the wine warms, dried apricot and citrus begin to emerge. Definitely a fun geek wine. — 2 days ago

Casas De Enriba Laura Lorenzo Mencía Godello 2020

@delectable this was the “Erea do Pobo.” Blend of godello and some other stuff. Beautiful wine, lots of citrus and a tinge of tropical with white flowers, mineral cut and curious herbaceous finish, a little like pine resin maybe — 6 months ago

Pegasus Bay

Prima Donna Pinot Noir 2017

Deep ruby. Dark sweet plum, salty and floral. The palate is med-full bodied, med acidity, soft-med tannin. There is a dark savoury element that gives the wine gravitas. Beautiful balance. Power without weight. Powerful and beautiful. — 2 years ago

Castello di Monsanto

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2019

Well structured classic Sangiovese exhibiting dark, ripening fruit with plenty of soft spice and underlying soft tannin. This is a luscious wine from Laura Bianchi. Drink it now or wait a couple of years for more ripe dark fruit. — 24 days ago

Donna Margherita Barbera d'Alba 2015

2015 vintage from magnum.
Bright ruby colour.
Perfumed nose with cherry, plums and dark flowers.
Smooth and savoury with medium acidity, red fruits, earthy, herbs and well developed rounded tannins.
This wine is food friendly.
I got a kilo of local Matsutake mushrooms from a forager friend and made risotto.
