Vecina Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

1 hour decant(lots of chunky/fine sediment). A majestic dark magenta color with a little bricking. On the nose: stewed plums, some blue fruit, herbaceous, eucalyptus, and worn leather. Taste: silky smooth, rich, layered wine with dark cherry, blackberry, chocolate espresso, herbs, tar, and a spicy licorice long finish. YUM! — 3 months ago

x Yes, the older vintages still look so young. Cheers!

Pluribus Napa Valley Red Wine 2014

Drank over two nights using a Coravin. Second night I decanted 1.5 hours. Both were a bit mild and muted. Concentrated and hefty but lacked the power I was expecting. Perhaps at 10 years it’s entered a more reserved phase. — 2 months ago

Double Diamond (Schrader)

Amber Knolls Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. No formal notes. The 2006 “Amber Knolls Vineyard” blows the mind. Yes, I know, it’s made by Schrader but this humble Lake County designation was meant to be enjoyed early while one allowed the more significant Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon’s mature. Yet here we are, thoroughly enjoying this 18 years from vintage. Fruit not only hanging on; dare I say this is still developing? Structure is sound. Drink now through 2030. Very impressive. — 5 months ago
