El Jefe

El Jefe

Unoaked Tempranillo 2023

This wine is fairly dark colored and smells of blackberry fruit and tar. It’s not a very complex nose. The palate brings similar earth tones, very bold and dark, with none of the oak spice that generally finds its way into a red wine. The tannins are rather soft, but there is enough there to make it a decent pairing with a steak. If you have never tasted an unoaked red wine, it’s worth a $20 bill with some change back. — a month ago

El Jefe is very good. And many people don't know, but El Jefe is Spanish for "The Jefe"

El Jefe Stoneridge Vineyard Tempranillo 2015

I loved how smooth this wine was - I had it two different nights - on a girl’s night with heavy apps and it even suprisingly paired well with different pasta salads, dips and charcuterie. I had it the second night with keftedes and thought it complemented them well. — 4 years ago

El Jefe Stoneridge Vineyard Red Blend 2015

Another excellent vintage of this Washington State Tempranillo! Deep ruby core with a garnet rim. Intense aromas of black raspberry, dried herbs, baking spices and graphite . Black raspberry/cherry fruit on the palate with notes of beef jerky, orange zest, baking spices and dried herbs. Long and earthy finish. Medium-plus body and quite fruit forward and savory. Nicely concentrated with fine grained tannins. This bottle was perfectly aged. — 6 months ago
