Ripe fruits, creamy mouthfeel, full bodied with lovely acidity and rounded tannins. Not spicy for a Shiraz. — 6 years ago
From a 6 liter Imperial bottle
Cork completely destroyed and soaked through. Needed some tricks to get it out
Wine was lighter than expected in body and density as if it was a Pinot but then had some tobacco and earthy flavors to show its age.
As it aerated over 3-4 hours - it developed really good aromas and had a touch of stewed fruits left in it.
Did not live up to hype but was enjoyed by all. — 2 months ago
Dark purple, heavy bodied, moderate tannins… velvety mouthfeel with bouquet opening up notes of plum, black berries, herbs, vetiver, black pepper, liquorice, leather and caramel. Great pairing with red meat 😋 — 8 months ago
The first of 3 Yalumba Octavius Shiraz brought to the Cairns BYO Indian restaurant. No formal notes but you could use the notes for the just posted Elderton Command. The other 2 Octavius drunk on the night were 2015 and 2016 which were excellent but way too young. — 4 years ago
Choosing the next Downs Club White wine from 44 masked entries. Great balance between fruit and oak - the former in the peaches/stone fruit style. Very balanced. Amazing QPR selling for $15 on the Elderton web site with a LUC to the Club at under $10. My choice on the night but sadly democracy prevailed and another wine got the nod. — 6 years ago
@Delectable Wine this is actually Old Vine Grenache which they don't produce every year.
The girls had access to an old plot of vines from the Elderton properties and the idea to make this gorgeous little wine was automatic.
Small victories is a department of Elderton in a way. It is run by the two wives of the Ashmead bros owners of Elderton wines.
The winemaker Jules is a Campbell from Rutherglen and has winemaking written all over her DNA. She is super attentive all along the process. Wines are wild fermented and looked after like babies.
The wine is juicy and fresh.
Running like a teenager not sitting down like an old person.
I look forward to see all the next wines they will make. — a year ago

Wow… this is a wonderful Ozzie Shiraz in that typical, oldfashioned, high-octane, push-the-pedal-to-the-metal personality.
Beautifully aged, showing a mahogany rim plus great secondaries and tertiaries over the still abundant baked plum and blackberry goodness. I’m talking smoked meat, sweet licorice candy, cocoa nibs, caramel, black pepper and olives, espresso, damp forestfloor and BBQ sauce. Delicate hints of orange zest, uplifting balsamic acidity and soft yet palpable tannines make this quite a bold but very classy drink!
Deep, dark and dense. Last bottle of a sixpack and easily the best. Terrific!
I also like the clever, tongue-in-cheek message on the backlabel: “Your wish is our Command” 😁 — 10 days ago
