This bottle was showing less reduction and was a lot more giving from the get-go than the one I had last fall. It shows such incredible layers of stone fruit, citrus, hazelnut and smoky minerals. It continues to gain both volume and focus with air and the palate has amazing texture, weight and such impressive depth for a village wine. Coche and Ente truly do play in a different league. — 3 years ago
Fall is here and it’s the season I love to drink port. Dow, producing Ports for over 2 centuries. One of the first to establish its own vineyards, acquiring Senhora da Ribeira, in the remote Upper Douro, in 1890 & Bomfim, in the heart of Alto Douro, in 1896. Aromas of ripe fruits, fragrant spices and sweet notes. On the palate flavors of candied apple and jammy blackberries with cacao and honey. Firm dusty tannins, good balance, long finish. Perfect now. Absolutely loved this wine! Perfect for fall. Full, balanced, and bold. Warms your pallet from the first sip. Simply divine! — 2 months ago
Spicy but soft great fall wine — 2 years ago
2021 fall. As always, this is darker with a lower center of gravity than the frappato wines, but well balanced with crunchy acidity — 3 years ago
2020 fall. Similar to other recent bottles — 4 years ago
Stunning. Graphite, cherry leather, plum, fall leaves. Beautiful structure to this wine.

Once upon a time, one could argue that Vacqueras was a poor man’s CNP. But at this point CNP may be the fool’s Vacqueras. A little menthol on the nose. Lots of dark fruit, leather, crushed stones, maraschino cherries and a hint of leather on the palate. Rustic and sublime at the same time. Great wine for fall and colder weather. — a month ago
