Familiar Centenary Vineyards

Brewer-Clifton

Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2015

9.4

As fresh as a spring daisy on the nose and palate. This hasn’t moved since it was bottled. I’m very impressed.
The nose presents lanolin and lemon oil and fresh-cut flowers. Palate is laser-focused with limes, grapefruit and gravel. Acid structure is pristine, yet powerful. I’m more familiar with BC’s pinots. This isn’t how I recollect the chard to be - wow! I think this is their entry-level offering, too. A very pleasant surprise… age is its friend.

Ridge Vineyards

Three Valleys Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend

Dark fruits, oak, and herbs combine in this zin forward red blend. Great upon opening and excellent day 2. Not familiar with Mataro (only 5%) but blended to perfection. — 4 months ago

Familia Cassone

Obra Prima Gran Reserva Familiar Maximus Malbec Blend 2014

The Maximus Gran Reserva Malbec shows plums, cherries, raspberries, black currants, wood, vegetables, spices and black pepper.

Medium plus in body, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and a tangy finish with soft tannins.

Better after an hour of airtime, but good right out of the bottle.

Nice by itself or with food. This six-year-old is drinking very nicely now. Very pleasant.

A blend of 80% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Syrah. Aged in French Oak barrels for 18 months.

I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

Jacob's Creek/Orlando

Centenary Hill Shiraz 2002

20 years old but still dark red and vibrant. Fruit has dropped off but lots of exotic spice and rich vanilla coconut from the American oak (?) in the background. Lovely drink with our eye fillet. — 3 years ago

One of my wines of the flight in a broad tasting of #Bierzo wines. This wine offers perfume, elegance ans structure that points to improvement with bottle age. — 5 years ago
