It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Purple /reddish in color with a wide reddish rim.
Showing a beautiful nose that takes me to Bordeaux.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Showing black plums, cherries, light oak, tobacco, licorice, light vanilla, peppercorn, espresso, light earth, chocolates and herbs.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Merlot from Bolgheri. Drinks like a Right Bank Bordeaux. Fruit forward, Interesting and rich.
Well balanced and elegant. Easy drinking with a nice mouthfeel.
Still young, but already delicious. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Good by itself or with food.
100% Merlot grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 14 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

An expected example of a Del Dotto cab with 15.5% alc, lots of French oak, and black fruit - more blackberry than black cherry. Tannins were nicely integrated and enhancing for the wine. — 2 months ago
Hot nose, big floral, fat berry, tar, chocolate. Medium dry tannins, lots of oak, takes away a bit from the fruit. Tight. Needs to breathe. I’ll wait to score. After two hours it’s put on weight. Fruit came out and tannins became well integrated. I’d have given it a 87-88 on opening but now it’s a solid 92. — 3 months ago

Super Tuscan at its peak, just beginning to show brickish color on the rim but intense ruby for the most part. The nose starts of with wet forest and red roses and opens to opulent dark berries then wet wood and even wet leather. Palate has persistent fruit throughout with hints of vanilla, polished tannins and bright acidity with a long balanced finish. — 8 days ago
