Light, fruity, and fragrant. Perfect with chicken braised in white wine with garlic and rosemary. Sweet cherryish fruit, floral notes, and a little warm gravel. Vivid high-toned cherry fruit in the mouth with loads of rock dust. Light on its feet and very soft. Good acidity. Great summer meal wine. Non-vintage. — 4 years ago
Topping the night off with the pinnacle. A Grange from 1999, made during an era that it was still produced in a regular bottle and a reasonable price. It was a mature version of the Saint Henry we had earlier that evening. Extreme dense in flavor, powerful and strong oak vanilla notes. Dark fruit soaked in cigar box and oh so smooth. 21 years old. Don’t take too much time drinking it and don’t decant it. It peaks in about 30-60 minutes. — 5 years ago
In 1865, Jean-Marie Mommessin founded winery. In 1889, Mommessin acquired La Grange Saint-Pierre, ancient buildings in Macon, originally belonged to Abbey of Cluny. Its key, the Key of St. Peter, became famous house emblem. Ruby color with aromas of dark berry fruit with notes of oak and floral. On the palate flavors of blackberry and currants with oak, floral, spice and earthy notes. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, oak and mineral character. — 2 years ago
