The quality for price is outstanding. In 1936 “Caillou’s owner had no desire to join the governing ranks of anything, let alone a wine appellation. This brazen act excluded the estate from the AOC and essentially carved out a chunk of Châteauneuf-du-Pape‘s border. Today it continues to be an ‘unclassified’ section in what is otherwise some of the most prized vineyard land in the area“-Ian Cauble, master sommelier — 4 years ago
After a few minutes of air, you can expect seductive aromas of candied rose petals and dried violets…“ “Medium bodied with tannins now sanded down to velvet smoothness…“ - “Ian Cauble, SommSelect $29 Wow! — 5 years ago
Vivid pink. Aromas of red fruits, licorice and white flowers. Then big, rich, dense and spicy with slightly sweet flavors of pomegranate and watermelon. Finishes very juicy and long; this is still young and will age well. A blend of Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2019) — 6 years ago

My buddy Ian brand coming correct. Sf chronicle wine maker of the year a few years back. Making a good name for our place Monterey. Listen to the bedrock podcast with Ian! It’s a good listen and the wine is super thoughtful. I can say im super thankful he and heather are keeping this going! Thank you heather brand for pouring and being the great host! Always gracious and kind. Ian and heather are bringing Monterey back up where it should be with the likes of Mark Chesebro (arroyo seco), tira nanza, russel Joyce and a few others. Big ups @Lee Lightfoot for letting me join you and Julie today. No doubt Carmel valley is on the rise again. Worth a visit! Contact me for appointments before summer — 4 years ago
Good full yellow. Enters honeyed and creamy with aromatic herbal nuances, then very juicy and lemony on the bright, supple finish. Made from Carricante grown at 650 meters above sea level on the northern slope of Etna. Really quite impressive, well done here. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019) — 5 years ago
Slightly carbonic but delicious. Ripening pineapple, white stone fruit and an unfiltered appearance… My friend Elias Fernandez at Shafer loves this one as well… @Paul T- Huntington Beach @Shay A @Stanley Barrios @Shauna Summers @Jim Trobaugh @Neal Schaffer @Ian Blackburn @Warren Sapp — 2 years ago
Superb. Ian Cauble calls this his “desert island” rosé. — 4 years ago
Medium pale pink. Floral strawberry, herbs and violets on the inviting nose. Then a slightly candied quality and a hint of residual sweetness diminish the vibrancy of the floral and juicy red berry flavors but contribute to a smooth, round mouthfeel. The finish is long and very precise, with obvious mineral elements emerging. 100% Sangiovese. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2019) — 6 years ago

Acid red and black fruit, balanced out with the pronounced pepper, spicy herbs, and earthiness. Powerful yet elegant. Soft tannins. Highly drinkable! — 7 months ago
