Iron Springs

Flora Springs

Reserve Rutherford Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon

The longevity this wine is capable of is shocking. The color hardly looks half its age, with a blooming nose that screams a much younger, softened cab of yesteryear. After half an hour open there’s nose of blueberry and butterscotch, vanilla and spicy peppery notes still persist! Over time a mustiness emerged, along with notes of wet wood, maybe even a little mustard! There’s even still a zippy, lingering acidity on the palate that focuses towards the tip of the tongue, either flavors of ripe strawberry, blueberry, plum and some meaty savory subtle notes, but primarily jammy fruit, with a palate that develops some woody cedar and forest floor notes and as it becomes further oxygenated. This is so impressive! — 8 days ago

Superb Napa Cab. Big and bold yet balanced. Glad to have another bottle in the cellar. — a month ago

Hermitage Syrah 1978

From Mag. An absolute wow of a bottle. The nose is crazy intense, lucid and profound. Dark plum fruit with a whiff of band aid, iron, black pepper, a tangy meatiness. Loads of delicate floral notes floating around, but a soulful and pristine bottle. As fresh as an early 2000’s bottle but so much age and precision going on. Wonderful. Just spectacular. — a month ago

Mineral Springs Brut Rosé Blend 2011

The extended tirage version! Beautiful color, a bit funky with almost sherry characteristics. Almost savory. Definitely opened up and integrated after a few minutes in the glass. — 9 days ago

Lytton Springs Petite Sirah Blend 2021

Surprisingly delicious now. Nose-warm baking spices with blueberry. Flavors are ripe and savory blue berries with brambles. Medium finish and griping tannins. — a month ago

Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2019

Made for a nice strong wine for Magic: The Gathering night. Aromas of plum, blackberry and dark chocolate. Strong, lingering dark fruit, chalky minerality and cocoa. This one needs to breathe a bit.

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2012

Another great btl from this vintage showing dark fruits, iron, black olive, pepper, smoked meat, glycerin, dried herbs, spice & violets. This will age effortlessly the next 20 years. — a month ago
