Always enjoy the wines from Istine but this bottle (or maybe year) isn’t quite giving as much. On day 2 a bit better, but overall the tannins are chalkier than I’d hope and the earth veils the fruit. Still obviously well made but for this vintage at least would check back in a couple years. — 10 days ago

Nice radda Chianti riserva but at this point at least not worth the $45+ price point over things like Istine or Tenuta Carleone at ~half the price or Boncie il Cinque at about the same price. Maybe in several years if it evens out? Gave it 3+ hours of air. Really a wonderful nose but the fruit doesn’t express that well and the tannins are a bit muddled. Nice refreshing acid on the finish though. — 10 months ago

Reviewed this vintage 3 times. Last bottle. Still excellent. Keep or drink over the next 2-5 years. Tons of tannins, kirsch, crushed marble. Mostly red fruit , touch blueberry, hint bitter. A reference wine.

Nice Tuscan white wine from a producer we like. Perhaps some skin contact based on the color and just a hint of grip. Not too mouth filling or intense and maybe slightly one note but still nice. — 2 years ago

Very dark rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, tarry, tobacco, cherries and a hint of flowers. Very dense and complex mouth, vivid but civilized tannins, medium bodied and long. Classically styled, no excess, top notch juice of the kind you’re left wanting for more. — 4 years ago
