What a lovely, lovely wine. Classic J.J. Prum. A distinctly pretty light straw color in the glass with faint green tinges. The nose is oh so floriferous and charming. Honeysuckle and wildflowers with white peaches and yellow apples. After some time, there’s a bit of slate and honey. Light and breezy, this is so nice.

A crisp and lovely Mosel Riesling, it’s very much alive and inviting immediately. Refreshing and well balanced throughout. There is precision on the palate underscored by some nice minerality. The fruit is pronounced and remarkably crisp, led by bright citrus tones and light spice. Vibrant lemon zest and grapefruit is tremendous here. Prum delivers yet again.

Perfect example of the difference between a Pinot about and a Spätburgunder. This is the latter - light & herby with damson plums, woodland flowers and a touch of undergrowth. Juicy and light on the palate with fruity acidity and some light tannins. Great with food, good for sipping solo. A nice effort. — 7 years ago

En Magnum. Built like a tank! High acid, massive extract, super pungent, crazy mineral, extra concentrated herbal lemon drop. This is riesling turned up to 11 (on a scale of 10)!

As much as this does not fit in my M.O. for riesling drinking, I can't help but be impressed with Becker's Edition Jean Baptist. Undeniably high octane, especially at 14% abv, but unbelievably balanced and pure. The wine needs heaps of time to hit full stride - best after 2 days of aeration. Intense aromas of exotic fruits and herbs. Think candied lemon, pineapple, and even jackfruit. On the palate, the structure is immense. Luscious crystalline fruit sitting on enamel-melting acidity and minerality directly extracted from liquid rock. You can definitely feel some warmth in the finish, but the length is incredible. This is Rheingau, old-school in its full glory! — 7 years ago

This is elegantly austere - a fantastic representative style of the cold region.
If memory serves me right this was from the year before the floods so the last year to be aged in the 100+ year old oak barrels. — 2 years ago

The slightest tint of rosé in the glass. Smells like the better qualities of champagne- roses and grapefruit pith. Refreshing acidity and tartness (too much tartness for the American pallette?) and there is no denying that minerality. For my friend Shin there are even 'hints of strawberry' in the long finish.
