Terrific at 10 years old. — 9 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The “La Rue des Noyers” pours a straw color with medium viscosity with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with lemons, black pepper, snow peas, peaches, and celery root. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and zippy. What a lovely and distinctive Champagne.
Labeled as NV but this bottle represents the 2016 vintage. “La Rue des Noyers” is a single vineyard in Vallée de la Marne, planted exclusively to Meunier. Benoit ages in oak and on lees for 11 months. I wish I could find this a little more easily. Disgorged May of 2020, during the height of the pandemic. — 2 months ago
Revisited outside of a restaurant setting. Out of the bottle, A dark violet, inky coloration. No translucency. Very noticeable tears on glass. On the nose, amarena cherry, blueberry, warm baking spices, pipe tobacco, vanilla, and florals. On the palate, florals, blueberry, blackberry, amarena cherry, cassis, vanilla, very full bodied and velvety mouthfeel. Long finish of predominantly blackberry and cassis. Some pipe tobacco. Medium tannins. Fruit forward, very concentrated and full bodied wine. After an hour, the nose is full on dark chocolate and pipe tobacco. The palate is heavy dark chocolate, oak and dark berry with a very, very long chocolatey finish. After more time to decant add some anise to the mix. — 4 months ago
Smooth, fruity with just enough hint of spice to make you know it’s a good red wine. — 2 years ago
Light, notes of strawberry, and not too dry. Easy to drink! — 2 months ago
Light medium ruby , with wide garnet rim . Slightly smoky red fruits , with red cherry , strawberry compote , cranberry , fruit pastels , slightly herbal at first and becomes more noticeable with time . On the palate quite light sweet , strawberry , cherry , red currant , with a touch of spice, slightly saline also . Velvety medium tannins, fresh acidity , good length with slightly mineral , herbal and chalky finish . This shows quite young and will be probably better in 3-5 years and will last well a further 10 . — 3 months ago
Nuova Italia, Ilchester. Fruity and slightly unexpectedly sweet. Berries, fruit. Enjoyable enough. — 6 months ago

Too young, but still delicious. Blue and black fruits, nice tannic structure. Will improve over the next 5+ years. Enjoyed at Mooo in Boston. — a month ago
