Very young at the mo but already incredibly expressive and animated with an hour or two in glass/decanter. Opens up with a wonderful mix of wood spice, heather, lavender, coffee grounds, hickory, wet bark, but also an attractive blueberry skin, blueberry muffin/pie richness and a perfumed violet infused soap high note (in a good way). There are also background notes of miso and stewed porcini mushrooms, plenty of umami action along with some smoky bacon notes. Already showing admirable aromatic complexity.
The palate lacks the complexity of the nose at the moment though there’s plenty of sinewy tannin and vibrant acidity with that ripe blueberry fruit and earthy wood spice showing on a decent finish, still needs a few years to shine but on this first taste it’s incredibly promising. — 5 years ago

Another producer to inherit some vineyards from Verset was Thiérry Allemand who purchased Noëls holdings in Reynard. That vineyard is the cornerstone for this wine. The 1999 Allemand “Reynard” is still full of fresh brambles, some cow pasture, and beautiful purple flowers. It’s sanguine with inorganic earth and gentle spices. Bangin’ with venison, umami bomb, potato and pearl onion. This is gorgeous and should be outstanding through 2040+. — 8 months ago

Deep crimson with slightly red tint, opaque, compact rim.
Classic Right Bank bouquet of black truffle, dark cherry, dark plum, licorice, medium extracted coffee.
Soft but full of character - as classic as it gets. Silky mouthfeel, always full of dimensions. Blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, cocoa, with a trace of jammy fruit but not overly so.
Drank at Logis de la Cadene in St Emilion. Superb wine with plenty left in the tank. 91++ — 7 years ago
Being a CB I don’t have much to compare it with but I still enjoy it. So different to the other varieties. This one has a slightly too sweet start and a flash of tanginess at the very end but overall, mellow and delicious. — 2 years ago
Full bodied drinkable white. Nice citrus notes, but not too acidic. Paired nicely with scallops (used for garlic butter sauce). — 6 years ago
2005 vintage at Logis de la Cadene in Saint Emilion. Pale ruby hue - edging to garnet. Full concentration of red berries, raspberries and strawberry, florals - white flowers, violets and roses, white pepper, spices. Vanilla essence with air. Huge complexity. Still remarkably youthful - not the typical savoury character of older Rayas's. On the palate, a joy. Medium acidity, medium plus body, medium plus alcohol and full concentration. Medium tannins - round and ripe. A textural wine - coats the palate. The flavours are changing on a minute by minute basis - framboise and spice, floral and deep. Very long finish. Superb. The hype is real. Reduction on PnP with an energetic acid drive that kept building over an hour. Tropical fruits, herbs de Provence, oiled gears. Wow. — 3 months ago
