1998 vintage. At Cabotte in London. Slightly cloudy, on the paler side of medium ruby. Black fruited, manure and earth, deep concentration. Slightly reductive. Complex. On the palate, medium plus acidity, medium body and alcohol, medium minus fine tannins and long finish. Very good. Drink now until 2023+. — 8 years ago

Medium deep ruby . Quite ripe and rich on the nose , sweet cherries, after a while more earthy , dried cranberry, inviting . On the palate more summer fruits , pomegranate, complemented by strong minerality , very good acidity and pretty present fine tannins . Good length , mineral finish . Needs time , drinkable with air and some red meat , but would benefit from another 5 years . Drank at Cabotte, London — 2 years ago
The 2016 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from the Domaine’s 0.22-hectare parcel in Ruchottes de Dessus, just below the cabotte. It is matured in 50% new oak. There is fine intensity on the nose here: blackberry, raspberry, orange pith and a light mineral presence that will hopefully become more expressive once in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, silky smooth in texture with tightly wound red cherry, white pepper and light mineral notes that become more conspicuous towards the detailed finish. This is certainly a fine Ruchottes-Chambertin although something tells me that there is even better to come. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2018)

2020 vintage. Last tasted 2.10.23 (9.2). Dropped a shade of body but still bringing plenty of intensity for the money. Watch this producer. 9.4.24. — 3 months ago
