Mizu No Oto Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2018

Kanpai Wines Mizu No Oto Pinot Noir 2018, Sonoma Coast, California

A pretty color of ruby, with medium intensity.

Fruity nose of red and blue fruits with oak, chocolates, earth, tobacco leaf, light toast and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, strawberries, spices, light oak, chocolates, herbs, light vegetables and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 8-year-old Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast is still showing lots of fruits. Nicely balanced, elegant and rich. Complex, easy drinking and entertaining.

I had this vintage over 4 years ago, and it is drinking so much better now. Drinking at its peak, and will continue to do so in the next few years.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

Delicious right out of the bottle, and a great sipping wine.

13% alcohol by volume.

Akita Seishu

Kiyoshitsuki Junmai Ginjo

From Taiheizan kura in Katagami, Akita.
Owned by Shin and Eiko Kodama, they have been producing miso, soy sauce sake and shochu since 1890’s.
Made with local Akita Komachi sake rice and polished to 55 % Junmai Ginjo.
Kimoto method is used which relies on natural, ambient lactic acid bacteria rather than added lactic acid to start fermentation.
Bold with flavours of white pears, honey dew melon, dried apricots, tropical fruits and white chocolate.

Aramasa Shuzou

Amaneko Tokubetsu Sake 2017

Aramasa again! This time from their "experimental" range - Private Lab series. V17. Junmai with 60% polishing ratio. Made with both saké and shochu koji. A little bit of funk factor here. Nose was really estery and ricey (if that even makes sense). Consistent with other tasting notes, palate was citrus first, melon second. Juicy sweetness and crunchy acidity makes for a very glou glou saké. Another mind-boggling bottle from possibly my favourite brewery. The usual elegance, with weight aplenty! — 7 years ago
