Horkenus Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Elegant left bank Bordeaux blend. Really nice. “The hidden light “ comes with a long smooth finish with note of Carmel and dried cherry. — a year ago

Geographically simple dry red that Daniel my gorgeous husband likes more than me. He is the man of the house though, so I will just listen to him. — 6 years ago

SHE Syrah 2020

Dandy Winery SHE Syrah 2020, Israel

A pretty color of dark ruby with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose with black plums, black currants, blackberries, light cedar, vanilla, licorice, light tobacco, mediterranean spices, chocolates, dark coffee, peppercorn and black tea.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, cooked cherries, spices, chocolates, coffee, cedar, leather, vanilla, light earth, herbs, peppercorn and tobacco.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Syrah from Israel. Rich, spicy and fruit forward. A good quality wine. Extracted, yet elegant.

Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.

An interesting take on an Israeli Syrah. Feels very much like a high end Californian Syrah.

Good right out of the bottle and easy drinking. The high alcohol is nicely integrated already.

Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years. Has good potential to become 94+ point wine.

Good by itself or with food, and will pair nicely with a nice piece of steak.

100% Syrah grapes from Mount Meiron in the Galilee, were aged in all new French oak barrels for 24 months. A tiny production of only 295 bottles. This is bottle number 198.

15.9% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Mount Hermon Petit Verdot Blend 2014

A great introduction to wine from the Holy Land. The high elevation gives a balanced tannin structure. With a dark cherry, and hint of pepper finish, this wine can handle any type of meat or cheese. — 7 years ago

Mount Hermon Rose Blend 2021

This wine has a rich salmon color, vibrant and beautiful. Its nose smells like a basket of summer fruit - strawberries, cherries and peaches - with a nice citrus note along for the ride. The palate is similarly blessed with ripe fruit, and a bracing acidity rounds out a really fine Israeli rosé that would feel right at home in the south of France. — 2 years ago

Vin Hors Series Mythos Mount Meron Merlot Petite Sirah 2014

Time for #MerlotThursday. Here is a tasty one from Israel.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Pretty nose of blueberries, black currants, plums, sweet cherries, wood, licorice, spices, vanilla, earth, light vegetables, milk chocolates, black pepper and tobacco.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, cedar, leather, earth, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine tannins and tangy cranberries.

This Israeli Petite Syrah /Merlot blend is very enjoyable now. Spicy and elegant with lots of fruits. Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.

This five year old is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Good right out of the bottle and gets more complexity as it opens up (30 minutes). Right out of the bottle, it reminds me of an elegant Napa Bordeaux blend. After two hours in a decanter, it changes somewhat, and it feels more like a right Bank Bordeaux.

A very interesting wine, and nice as a sipping wine to enjoy with friends and talk about.

This series is not produced every year. This is bottle number 50 out of 2,500 produced.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a triple cream Brie cheese, and crackers.

A blend of Merlot, Petite Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Aged for 24 months in New French Oak barrels. Kosher and delicious.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Meron Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Very nice and smooth. Definite tannins, but not too heavy. Those ease over time and the wine remains extremely drinkable even 24 hours later. Perhaps longer, but it had all gone by then. — 8 years ago
