St. Urbans-Hof Bockstein Auslese Riesling 2014

After only ten years, this one had lost some of its zing; it was a little earthy, but still full of acidity. Paired it with cherry almond cheesecake, and it didn’t have the upfront burst of sweetness to stand up properly. — a month ago

Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2019

Spiced plum, red currant, dark berry flavors, takes a while to open up, but once it does, it expresses beautifully. — 5 months ago

Hate how much I love this one. Very sweet - tropical fruits - pineapple, mango, lemon, apricot, peach. Sort of notice the Gasoline scent on the tip of the nose characteristic of Rieslings? — 2 months ago

Waipara Valley Riesling 2019

Smells like: steel wool, lime sorbet, whey, and rain on a tin roof.
Tastes like: white peonies, Cala Cala pith, caramelized pear, electric
Good for: flashback and flash forward scenes in movies about technology, rapini and anchovy with polenta.

St. Urbans-Hof Goldtröpfchen Spätlese Riesling 2016

So clean and balanced. Not a complex wine, but just a perfect balance of only a mild sweetness followed by minerality and mild acidity. A Golden Mean in all its flavors. White fruit flavors. A paradigm of Mosel Riesling. Extraordinary QPR. — 2 years ago

What a pleasure. Somewhat a beaut on the nose, but so powerful on the palate. Stone fruit and green apple and a little bitterness on the finish. — 2 months ago

Prima Donna Pinot Noir 2017

Intense, brooding, and complex nose. Dark cherry, plum, sandalwood, and charcuterie. The palate is med/full bodied, med acidity and delivers quite opulent sour cherry and plum fruit. Smoke and chocolate on the end palate. Very long. A bit heavy relative to a burgundy, but the flavour profile, complexity, and length do not disappoint. — 10 months ago
