For $13 at total wine, this is a great wine. — 8 years ago
Toscana IGT White 2013, 12.5%.
Bottle tasted in October 2014.
Vermentino is becoming the most used white grape in Maremma and this, thankfully, is well made wine (as opposed to many boring Vermentino found all over Tuscany).
Good acidity and persistence, better if drank quite cold. — 10 years ago

I don't really like Italian cabs but this one is definitely worth the price. — 10 years ago
Poggio al Tufo is a relatively new estate in the once swampy Maremma in coastal Tuscany. Tommasi, of Amarone fame planted vineyards here in 1997. The Alicante Bouschet grape is new to Tuscany, although getting more popular. This wine is a deep purple in the glass , delivering pepper, black fruits and smoke to the palate. Tannins are still a little harsh so this will benefit from another year or two in the bottle. Interesting wine from this interesting grape.

It's what would would expect from a Tuscan Cabernet. Full bodied, nice legs, deep cherry, and subtle earthiness. Very good wine. — 9 years ago
