Strong but good. Venice in St Mark’s square with Stephan, Kevin McLeod and Pat Beyer — 3 years ago
Color of purple with a bit cloudy copper tone on the rim, decent legs. Nose of dried strawberry and aldehyde, spicy, ripe grapes, a bit leather, vanilla, and oily pat. Nose is quite nice. Taste is mellow, almost no tannins with refined dark fruits sweetness, quite silky with hidden bittersweet zest. Aftertaste is medium with more vanilla and zest notes. Smooth one. — 5 years ago

Craiglee have been making wine on this site since the 1860s In a 3 Level bluestone gravity fed winery - about a half hours drive north of Tullamarine - Melbourne International Airport. Aromas of Liquorice and Spice. Medium minus palate weight - very different to Barossa or McLaren Vale Shiraz. Medium To light weight tannins. Great length despite the lack of palate weight - like a Pinot lovers Shiraz. Years ago I used to buy this cool climate Victorian Shiraz because of the white and black pepper, but no sign of that in this one - is Pat Carmody picking a little riper? Worth a visit for any visiting overseas Wine Lover so close to Tullamarine. — 8 years ago
Nose is ripe with late season red cherries. Spice, earth. Wet earth and tweed jacket. Really spectacular fruit on the nose. Almost a cola like intensity but it’s all Burg fruit. Terrific aromas. Really nice layered spices beyond that. Almost middle eastern. Juicy and so concentrated with such sappy and pure fruit. Man what amazing fruit here. So long and slippery. Really open now but will develop. More 22’s I taste more I have to pat myself on the back for making the call these would be open when they landed. Not one closed 22 so far. Fantastic wine. — a year ago

Riesling
Wirz Vineyard
Cienega Valley
Central Coast, CA
T-hued to the eye, the nose is an absolutely elegant combination of the soils this Riesling was lucky enough to grow up in, and the age of the vines, planted by a legend named Pat Wirz, in the Cienega Valley of California, in 1963.
The palate of this Riesling is of a remarkable, Alsatian style that has the balance to satisfy & then some. Before it moves to the finish, a gorgeous feel of melon presents itself, as the finish makes its way not only onto the palate but quietly into the memory.
We paired it with some of Beth’s shrimp for and grits- and the pair was better than the sum of its parts.
…as good as those parts were. — a month ago
