2013 vintage, my first Radikon. Shock and awe. Color is a burgundy rust tone, viscous legs. Flavors defy typical classifications. Delightful. A bit above my price point for the every day bottle (too bad!) but this will go into my periodic rotation for sure! It's an adventure! Try it! — 8 years ago

Yes. Just yes. Nose is super confectionary and has outrageous pure meyer lemon drop. Gorgeous minerality. Wonderful honeycomb with air. Elite elite elite. There is a primal aspect here that hasn’t been in previous vintages. Lanolin like. Palate has stunning depth, power, concentration and sapidity. Unreal tension. So so electric and the finish is epic. As usual Chassagne 1er cru quality. So juicy and complex and supernal balance and purity. So fresh and deep. Genius. Flavors are all tense green apples and a hint of delicate and sweet citrus. Has that roundness allied with tense acidity and periodic table of element levels of minerality. The balance is god tier. Genius. What one wants. Hugely mineral, periodic table levels, but besides that not much. Closed. Palate is gorgeous. Tons of minerality and energy. So pure and clean. Lovely texture and mineral complexity. Needs maybe 2-3 hours in a decanter first air to say its thing. Huge power and concentration with nice finesse and gorgeous finish. This is terrific. Wow. — 5 years ago

Pierres d'Iserand Saint-Joseph Syrah 2019

Pick this for something approachable and detailed. Pours a definite Syrah and Syrah being particularly idiosyncratic in many profiles, this happens to be a good one. One I like. Fruity and welcoming and just fine before dinner alongside cheese and olives.

Pours slowly - velvet ribbons in crimson purple. Soft and chewy. Singing...songs of raspberry, blackberry, cedar, cinnamon, and spends some time in metallic mineral corner of the periodic table.

Tight and reserved on opening, a 2 hour decant with periodic swirling helped open up this relatively brawny, structured Volnay. A bit shy on the nose, this a nicely dense midpalate and a darker hue, perhaps as a function of the vintage. Really shined with Beef Wellington. This Volnay showed dark berry fruit and plum, with lovely tannins on the finish, with enough structure to give focus, but supple enough to provide immediate pleasure. A very nice, good value village Burg, no problem to hold or drink with a short decant. — 4 years ago
