The wine producer Poggio dei Gorleri, from the small hamlet Gorleri, is located high above the Ligurian coast near Imperia, called the Ligure di Ponente, Italy. The producers’ focus is predominantly on the Pigato grape, delivering minerally, white fruit, very fresh white wines. This Shalok stands out from the white wines produced. Made of 100% Granaccia/Grenache/Alicante, this wine is bursting with red fruits. Quite dark with flavours of berry/blackberry fruit, some chocolate, some wood, with very smooth tannines. Only 1,122 bottles produced. — 6 years ago
Pool toy, petrol. Riesling nose, possibly from age. Nice structure. — 9 years ago
Why does this Vermentino have such a relatively low rating, 8.5, as of this tasting? This tastes like a hybrid of Chardonnay and Sancerre. Perhaps it's too friendly, too drinkable. Not too much for me. — 10 years ago

After 37 years and with its almost rotten cork, lower shoulder liquid level, it's hard to believe this wine is alive still. But it is. And vibrant acidity resonates defiantly, like the last piece of Beethoven's choral work: fight its life through the end. — 10 years ago
Quite easy on the system, very drinkable — 3 years ago
Perfect summer wine, picked up at Eataly Boston. It's the only Timorasso I've had the pleasure to drink, I still need to try the VIGNETI MASSA. Something of a cross between Erbaluce and Arneis (without the bitter almond finish). Bright and light, but with some slightly richer tropical tones... by no means a warm-climate white. Delicious! — 6 years ago

1998 vintage on Dec 23, 2017 at Mucca Osteria (from Bob’s cellar purchased at K&L). Perfectly cellared. Rich and full bodied Barolo with mature complexity. Will age for several more years but ready to drink now. Preceded by Vigneti Massa Derthona and Giuseppe Cortese Rabajá 2012. — 9 years ago
