Serious bottle of wine that is just about damn near perfect! Needs air to breathe so be sure to decant or let sit. Tannins were great, ripe fruits and a smooth finish. Paired with homemade vodka sauce and rigatoni. — 3 years ago

Dependably enjoyable #grandcruchampagne 2012: yeasty nose, laid back citrus and some wet stone aromas. Still vigorous fine bubbles on the palate, nicely balanced but definitely tending towards very dry. Paired marvelously with a lentil soup starter and Cacio e Pepe rigatoni with sautéed shrimp dining al fresco (BYOB with reasonable corkage fee FTW!) on a relatively pleasant early summer evening in Houston. While a very nice bottle of bubbly, I must admit I was expecting a bit more verve given the GC vintage label. #fatcork — 2 years ago

At an Italian Restaurant on the Gold Coast having a nice pasta dish of Rigatoni with Lamb Shoulder. This wine by San Guido where their top Cuvée is the famous Sassicaia. This wine is 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Oak maturation is well balanced using a combination of new and used oak. The nose shows obvious Cabernet traits and shows again how suitable Bolgheri is to Bordeaux blends - plummy notes. A good match with the dish. A dry finish. — 6 months ago

“Ana’s-Cëtta” is the white #Nascetta wine by @elviocogno who helped bring the variety back from near extinction in the 1990s in the commune of Novello, #Langhe, #Piedmont.

The 2022 delivers aromas of honeysuckle, white peach, verbena and Mediterranean herbs. Apple, pear, quince and pineapple flavors then come into play. This quickly followed by a waxy texture, balanced by lime zest, with notions of crushed minerals on the finish.

The winery suggests it is “ideal as an accompaniment to vegetable dishes, white meats, raw fish, oysters and creamy cheeses.” Maybe not as ideal, but paired with rigatoni, sausage and fennel allowed some contrast to expose and heighten many of the sensations…BRAVO!
